Producer, Founder of Fusion Productions, SCA Alumnus
Fusion Productions was founded in 1990 by Todd Sims and his wife Gina M. Sims. Todd, two months out of college, and Gina, just starting her junior year, acquired the rights to a small local cable television series for only $600. The Brownwood Lion Football Review was Fusion Productions' first venture into professional video production. They turned a profit through ad sales and went on to produce and direct two additional television news programs, one being awarded a national ACTS award. Since then, Fusion Productions has produced numerous projects in the U.S. and abroad earning thirty domestic and international awards for excellence in production.
Screenwriter, Book Author, SCA Alumna
Cheryl McKay has been professionally writing since 1997. Cheryl wrote the screenplay for The Ultimate Gift, based on Jim Stovall’s novel. The award-winning film stars James Garner, Brian Dennehy, and Abigail Breslin and was released in theaters by Fox in 2007. The Ultimate Gift won a Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival, received three Movieguide Nominations, winning one of the Ten Best Family Films of 2007, and won a CAMIE Award, for one of the Top Ten Films of the year. Cheryl also wrote the DVD for Gigi: God’s Little Princess, another book adaptation based on the book by Sheila Walsh, as well as the Wild and Wacky, Totally True Bible Stories audio series and books with Frank Peretti. She wrote a half-hour drama for teenagers about high school violence, called Taylor’s Wall. It was produced in Los Angeles by Family Theater Productions. She wrote a script called Greetings from the Flipside, commissioned by Art Within, after winning a year-long fellowship. It’s currently being adapted into a novel for B&H Publishing (with Rene Gutteridge). Her screenplay, Never the Bride, has been adapted into a novel for Random House Publishers and was released in June 2009. The film version is in development. She also wrote the screenplay for A Friend for Maddie.
SAFD Fight Master, Fight Director
Michael is Fight Coordinator on Broadway for the Internationally acclaimed show Festen. He received the 2005 Outstanding Fight Direction Award from the New York Theatre Fringe Festival for Lizards. Mr. Chin is a student of Northern Shaolin Long Fist Kung Fu and a Full Partner with Fight4 in New York City.
Richard Clabaugh has taught cinematography for nearly a decade at North Carolina School for the Arts, School of Filmmaking (now UNC-SA) before leaving that position in 2008 to return full time to the world of film production. Currently he is a principal partner in Crimson Wolf Productions, a North Carolina based feature film and television production company. Crimson Wolf’s first feature, Eyeborgs, is scheduled to be released on DVD and Blu-ray this summer.
SAFD Fight Director
Dale Girard is a certified fight master with the SAFD and Fight Directors Canada (FDC). He is also co-founder of the North Carolina Stuntmen’s Association; author of Actors on Guard; and director of stage combat studies for North Carolina School of the Arts. Dale appears in the role of Sankur and served as second unit director and stunt coordinator for the film Eyeborgs. Dale is currently serving as stunt coordinator on Gary Wheeler’s The Trial starring Matthew Modine.
SAFD Fight Director
Gregg Lloyd is an SAFD Certified Teacher, professional actor and director. As a professional actor and fight director, Gregg has worked around the country from Chicago to Dallas in all types of venues including regional theaters, rep companies, amusement parks and Medieval Times. He recently staged the fights for the Virginia Stage Company’s Romeo and Juliet and currently serves as professor of acting and stage combat at Christopher Newport University in Virginia.
Sword Master and SAFD Fight Director
Richard Ryan, sword master and fight director for such films as The Dark Knight (Batman), Troy, Stardust, The Last Legion, The Golden Compass, and the upcoming Solomon Kane. Richard has extensive experience providing fight training for actors to perform fights with a multiplicity of weapons and serves as 'Master-at-Arms' to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
SAFD Fight Director, Stunt Coordinator
Originally hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Paul Burke is a full member of Stunt Guild Ireland and an Instructor with the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy. He has done choreographed fights for theatre, television and movies. In 2008 Paul was Fight Coordinator and consultant for the Irish Television Docu-drama Feuds which covered the Modern Irish Traveler/Tinker communities' clan rivalries which commonly result in bare knuckle boxing matches and can result in all out faction fights. Recent film/tv work includes Vikings which debuted March 2013 on The History Channel. Paul was also Assistant Coordinator to Richard Ryan on the forthcoming film Hammer of the Gods.
Fran began her Hollywood career as an Assistant Editor at Action International Pictures where she quickly gained an understanding of the art of action editing. Since then she has worked as a full editor on the action feature Little Chicago and the sci-fi action thriller Eyeborgs. She has conducted editing workshops for the Jacksonville Film Festival and is co-owner of Crimson Wolf Productions, an independent production company located in North Carolina. Currently she is editing the feature film Nightmare Box, shot in London, England by Director Jon Keeyes.
Audio Post Engineer
Ryan is a Virginia Beach native who received his Associates Degree in Recording Engineering from Full Sail in 2002. Now working at a major television production company as an audio post engineer, his job entails all aspects of audio work including work on movies, cartoons, television, and running live sound. He is currently finishing up his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema Television at Regent University and plans to continue in the television field fine tuning his skills.
SAFD Fight Director, Stuntman
Kevin is an instructor of acting and theatrical movement as well as a Certified Teacher of stage combat. He also works as an actor and stuntman. Kevin studied under SAFD Fight Master David Leong and Certified Teacher Aaron Anderson, and is a teacher candidate with the National Michael Chekhov Association. Kevin has been providing his services as fight coordinator, actor, combatant, gun wrangler, and armorer with his company Fight Designer, LLC, now in Richmond, VA, where he recently won a special recognition "Artsie" award from the RTCC for his work as fight director for Macbeth.
Certified SAFD Teacher
Casey Kaleba, a Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) certified teacher and guest teacher with Fight Directors Canada and the Nordic Stagefight Society, has staged more than 250 productions for theatre including the Folger Theatre, Signature, Round House, Rorschach and Studio Theatres.
SAFD Fight Director, Regent Faculty
Michael Kirkland, MFA, Ph.D., an SAFD Certified Teacher, serves as head of the MFA Acting program at Regent University where he teaches acting, movement, and stage combat. He has guest taught at RADA and Birmingham School of Acting in England and has staged fights for Houston Grand Opera, Houston Shakespeare Festival, New Stage Theatre, Virginia Musical Theatre and professional and educational venues around the U.S. He is author of Stage Combat: An Annotated Bibliography (Praeger, 2006).
SAFD Fight Director. Movement Specialist
Marianne freelances as a stage director, choreographer, fight director, and movement coach. She is Associate Professor and Head of Movement for the MFA Acting and BA Drama programs at the University of Virginia. She has directed fights for North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Ashlawn Opera Company and several universities. A biomechanics specialist, she authored the chapter on Meyerhold in the book "Movement for Actors." She holds an MA from Tufts University and an MFA from Boston University College of Fine Arts.
Wing Chun Certified, Fight Director
Dave White is a certified instructor of Wing Chun Kung Fu and has been teaching for over 20 years. He is a 26 year law enforcement veteran and served as a "Point-Man" on a Hostage Rescue Team. He has taught and created programs for many law enforcement and military groups. He has worked as a tactical consultant for the Discovery Channel's Spy Tech, Dominion Pictures, and The FBI Files. He has worked on many student films at Regent University. He will be continuing his training in acting at the actor's place in Va Beach, VA. Along with acting he has recently written, acted, and directed a small film titled "Wiseman" which will showcase local actors and his non-classical version of Wing Chun in several fight scenes. He is working towards starting a business that involves self defense, fitness, and a program to teach actors tactics and fighting skills for film.
