Bruce Swaffield, Ph.D.
Dr. Bruce Swaffield is a professor in the Department of Strategic Communication & Journalism at Regent University specializing in rhetoric and composition, news and feature writing, literary criticism and 18th century British studies. He is a regular commentator on global media for a journalism trade magazine and is the founder and director of the Worldwide Forum on Education and Culture, which meets annually in Rome, Italy, to discuss issues involving international education.
Dr. Swaffield has been working in the field of writing and journalism for more than 30 years and has studied with renowned writers such as James Michener, Isaac B. Singer, John D. MacDonald and Evelyn Mayerson. He writes and maintains a daily devotional website, “Devotions for Life: New Ideas for Old Ways,” at www.devotionsforlife.org. At Regent, Dr. Swaffield teaches courses on feature writing for publications, editorials, columns and essays, journalism as literature, writing for strategic communication, nonfiction and novel writing, global media, and writing for the workplace.
