Regent Law Recognized for its Unwavering Commitment to the Law and Faith by preLaw Magazine

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Feb. 14, 2023) – Regent University School of Law is currently featured in a preLaw Magazine article titled, “Most Devout Law Schools,” which spotlights the nation’s strongest law programs that incorporate Christian faith into their legal studies.

The article declared that Regent “practically tied for No. 1” and determined that, “Regent Law, like many law schools with religious ties, is dedicated to creating a community of lawyers and law students who are both serious about their faith and serious about the law.”

The piece emphasized that the University’s mission is rooted in a Christian worldview, but its students are cultivated by more than their principled studies. A Regent University education also includes the advantage of a spiritually supportive campus culture.

Brad Lingo, dean of Regent Law, pointed out that, “When you view the law not just as a way to feed your family but as a way to live out your calling, it leads you to take law school very seriously.”

The article goes on to mention Regent’s support staff, like counselors and chaplains, who are present throughout a student’s studies to offer guidance, encouragement, and prayer as they prepare for careers, as well as their call to righteousness.

“While others might tell students that lawyers are sharks, we teach that lawyers can be healers of conflict,” Lingo urged in the article. “We teach that law, at its best, provides opportunities to walk with someone during what might be one of the darkest, scariest, loneliest times of their lives.”

The article also included insight from Matthew Noel, a graduate assistant at Regent Law, who asserted that the best advice the he received when considering law schools was to go and speak with students and faculty at a school and ask himself, “Do I want to be more like these people?” His answer was, “Yes!”
