Regent Journal of Law & Public Policy Submissions

The Regent Journal of Law & Public Policy (RJLPP) welcomes the submission of articles and book reviews. The RJLPP encourages unsolicited articles. Submissions are subject to approval by the Executive Board based on both content and quality. Each submitted manuscript must be typed double-spaced, preferably in the Times New Roman 12-point typeface.

Submissions to the RJLPP should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th Ed.) whenever possible. Submissions should also include the author's Curriculum Vitae, as well as a cover letter with a word count and short abstract or description of the piece. The RJLPP prefers electronic submissions, but, if necessary, authors may also send manuscripts submitted in duplicate to the address below.

The Policy Brief Submissions

The Policy Brief is the online companion to the Regent Journal of Law & Public Policy. The Policy Brief publishes original scholarship in the form of essays and commentaries as well as responses to scholarship published in the printed pages of the RJLPP. The Policy Brief accepts submissions from professors, practitioners, judges, legislators, public officials, and law students on issues of law and public policy.

Submissions should be 1000 to 1500 words (the size of a typical opinion article). While submissions under 1,000 words will be readily considered, if a submission goes beyond this upper limit, each word over 1500 must be integral to the submission's central argument in order for the RJLPP to consider accepting it. Submissions over 2,000 words will not be considered.

Essays and Commentaries. We invite members of the legal and policy communities to submit original essays and commentaries. Successful essays and commentaries typically achieve one of three purposes. First, an essay might bear directly on events unfolding in the present, and therefore carry a timeliness and urgency that is best suited to online publication. Second, an essay might seek to influence legislators and policy-makers outside of academia, who may lack the time to read printed law journals. Third, an essay might set forth a brief observation that is novel and useful but that does not require a full-length article to express.

Responses. We invite all our readers to respond to arguments made in the RJLPP's print journal.

All submissions should be written in a style accessible to a general audience of practitioners and policy-makers, and should conform to our Style Guide. All submissions to The Policy Brief should include the author's Curriculum Vitae, as well as a cover letter with a word count and short abstract or description of the article.

The RJLPP hopes to respond within two weeks, and to publish within two months of acceptance. To submit a piece to The Policy Brief, please email it to policybrief@regent.edu for consideration.
