Deepen your understanding of Gottman Method Couples Therapy in 4 days and expand your strategies in your work with couples using Gottman Method interventions in group role-plays while receiving personal, supportive coaching from trainers. There is a total of 19 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credit available for the Gottman Level 2 Training. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, Level 1 Gottman Training must be completed. To be eligible to take Level 2 you must complete Level 1.

What Will You Learn?

  • Assess a couple’s Friendship Profile, Conflict Profile, and Shared Meaning Profile
  • Develop interventions that couples can use as antidotes to the Four Horsemen
  • Help couples to soothe physiological flooding
  • Apply six modes of changing the Attack/Defend System in a couple’s interactions
  • Assist couples in establishing dialogue about their gridlocked conflicts
  • Select and implement interventions to help couples deepen their Friendship System with rituals of connection
  • Select and implement interventions to help couples create a shared system of values and meaning
  • Identify and implement five different co-morbidities common to couples using Gottman Method assessments and interventions

Dr. Williams, Director of the Counselor Education & Supervision (PhD) Program at Regent University.

Dr. Williams has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Florida. He also has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Hartford and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in both Florida and Virginia.

Dr. Williams is Director of the Counselor Education & Supervision (PhD) Program at Regent University, and has served the past 8 years as Associate Professor for both Doctoral and Masters counseling programs. His research interests are career development, the intersection of ethnicity, and social economic status as it pertains to mental health. Additional research interests include multicultural and advocacy, addictions, and couples counseling. Dr. Williams has worked for more than twenty years in various administrative roles in higher education at the University of Connecticut, the University of Florida and Regent University, helping students find their purpose in life through essential mental health counseling and mentorship. His focus centers on career, spirituality, calling, and meaning. In addition to working in higher education, Dr. Williams has worked in community counseling agencies, that focused on addictions treatment and co-occurring disorders. Currently he is the owner of Impact Counseling, Coaching and Consulting, LLC, a private mental health counseling practice where he focuses on marriage and couples counseling. He has also taught couples counseling courses, presented at conferences, and conducted trainings on marriage counseling. Finally, Dr. Williams has completed levels 1, 2 and 3 of the Gottman Therapy training.
