On Tuesday, April 18, Regent University’s executive vice president for academic affairs and College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) dean, Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño presented the 2017 Faculty Excellence Awards during the spring all-staff meeting.

Regent School of Business & Leadership (SBL) professor Dr. Timothy Redmer was recognized for excellence in the area of teaching.

“He embraces the mission and vision of the university,” said Moreno-Riaño. “His former and current students speak of him with great admiration and love.”

In the area of scholarship, School of Law (LAW) professor James Duane was recognized for his book, You Have the Right to Remain Innocent, following the viral success of his “Don’t Talk to the Police” lecture.

“Three of his recent articles published with much acclaim; one has been downloaded 950 times by law scholars around the country,” said Moreno-Riaño. “Another was published on solicitation by the Stanford Journal of Criminal Law and Policy and yet another has been responded to by six justices of the Supreme Court in personal letters.”

School of Education (SOE) associate professor Dr. Glenn Koonce was awarded in the area of service.

“He leads the university and school with the heart and mind of Christ,” said Moreno-Riaño.
