Because the Interdisciplinary Studies major is a program leading to initial professional licensure, students must both declare the  major  and  be  formally  accepted  into  the  program.  Upon  declaring  the  major,  students  are  identified  as non-licensure track. After  successfully  completing  the  majority  of  general  education  requirements  at  the  end  of  the  sophomore  year, students are permitted and encouraged to apply for formal admission into the Interdisciplinary Studies major. In order to make application to the major, students need to show a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in each course applied to meet general education requirements. After admission into the major, the students’ major is officially changed to the licensure  track  (PreK-6).
