Regent University is taking proactive measures to protect its faculty, staff, and students

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (March 11, 2020) – In light of the continued spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Regent University is taking proactive measures to protect its faculty, staff, and students.

  • To the best of our knowledge, there have been no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 at Regent University. To our knowledge, no individuals have come into contact with COVID-19, or have any symptoms of the virus.
  • Regent University continues to proactively clean and sanitize all facilities. The university is taking appropriate steps to clean and protect the campus to ensure that it is a safe educational and working environment.
  • Out of an abundance of caution, some Regent students, faculty, and staff have opted to self-isolate.
    • Ten (10) Regent students attended a conference where an attendee – not a Regent student – tested positive for COVID-19. There is currently no evidence that the Regent students came into contact with the infected conference attendee. These students will self-isolate for fourteen (14) days to ensure that they are healthy and do not have COVID-19. The self-isolation procedure has come out of an abundance of caution.
    • One (1) Regent faculty member and one (1) Regent student attended a different conference where two (2) conference attendees – not the Regent faculty member or student – tested positive for COVID-19. The faculty member returned to campus along with another external colleague who also attended the conference. There is currently no evidence that the Regent faculty member, student, or the external colleague came into contact with the infected conference attendees. However, out of an abundance of caution, these individuals and a few faculty and staff who met with them have elected to self-isolate for fourteen (14) days to ensure they do not have COVID-19, and to protect the broader Regent community.
  • Regent University has taken steps to care for faculty, staff, and students to ensure maximum protection and prevention for all. To the best of our knowledge, none of the above individuals came into contact with COVID-19, have the virus or have any symptoms of the virus.
  • Regent University is operating under normal business hours. Classes will continue as planned.
  • Regent University is continuously monitoring COVID-19. Regent officials are continuously monitoring the situation on campus, in the Virginia Beach area, and around the country. We will consider additional steps as the situation warrants. We pray for the protection of the Regent community and the nation as a whole.
