Regent University Appoints Anna S. Ord, Psy.D., as Dean of the School of Psychology & Counseling

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (June 18, 2021) – Regent University announced today that Anna S. Ord, Psy.D., has been named dean of the School of Psychology & Counseling, effective July 1, 2021. William L. Hathaway, Ph.D., who served as dean of the School of Psychology & Counseling since 2009, has been promoted to the role of executive vice president for Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Ord is an extraordinary leader with exemplary qualifications in the fields of academia and clinical psychology,” said Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson, founder, chancellor and CEO of Regent University. “We are thrilled to appoint Dr. Ord as dean, and we anticipate continued growth and success of our Psychology & Counseling programs under her leadership.”

Dr. Ord, who served as chair of the Graduate Psychology department and director of the M.S. in Psychology program at Regent, is a highly effective administrator, an accomplished academic, and a licensed clinical psychologist. During her five years at Regent, she has developed eight times the required volume of scholarship with over 64 scholarly presentations and publications. Additionally, she has exhaustive experience in clinical practice at Hampton Roads Neuropsychology, Eastern Virginia Medical School, W. G. Hefner Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, and the Regent University Psychological Services Center.

As a distinguished scholar, Dr. Ord completed two post-doctoral fellowships in clinical neuropsychology and mental illness research and treatment. She holds a Doctor of Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Regent University, a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, a Master of Business Administration from Miami University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Academy of National Economy in Moscow, Russia.

Reflecting on their work together in the School of Psychology & Counseling, Dr. Hathaway offered his enthusiastic support for appointing Dr. Ord as dean. “She brings to Regent a remarkable set of cutting-edge professional and scientific skills that will serve the university well. Dr. Ord is unparalleled in scholarly productivity and is also among the most highly rated faculty according to student evaluations. She is held in high esteem by her peers and demonstrates professional, administrative, and academic excellence.”
