Regent Law Faculty Achievements – March 2018

Regent University’s School of Law Faculty members willingly share their knowledge and expertise beyond the classroom to spark scholarly debate and advance the practice of law. Their latest endeavors include the following.


Assistant Professor Caleb Griffin has published his first piece, The Hidden Cost of M & A, in the Columbia Business L. Rev.

Professor Tom Folsom presented The Anti-Privacy Interests in Cyber Space: Big Game Hunting on the Cyber Range, March 20, Idaho Federalist Society; and Three Principles of Supernatural Law in the Public Square: How Religion Informs the Practice of Law, March 22 at Gonzaga Law in Spokane, WA.

Dean Michael Hernandez gave an interactive and stimulating Colloquium presentation Biblical Liability: Textual Analysis and Modern Application on March 20 here at Regent Law.

Professor Jim Davids gave a presentation on March 20, 2018 to Regent Law Christian Legal Society on the integral impact that CLS has had on his life.

Professors Jeffrey Brauch and Kathleen McKee presented at the Human Trafficking: A Global Problem Symposium sponsored by the Journal of Global Justice and Public Policy on Friday, March 23. You can view some of their work on this issue at:

Professor Lynne Marie Kohm presented C.S. Lewis & the Father Wound to the Regent University C.S. Lewis Society on Feb. 27, and submitted it for publication.

Professor Brad Jacob made three Federalist Society presentations over spring break.

  • University of South Dakota Law School – “School Shootings and the 2nd Amendment.”
  • Creighton University School of Law – “Stare Decisis in a Constitutional Case is Unconstitutional.”
  • Washburn University School of Law – “School Shootings and the 2nd Amendment.” Watch the video of his 2nd Amendment debate at Washburn.

Professor Lynne Marie Kohm’s article “Honey, I Froze the Kids: Implications for the Practitioner in Reproductive Technologies and Spousal Consent,” was recently listed on SSRN’s Top Ten download list for WGSRN: Gender, Reproductive Rights & Health (Sub-Topic) Top Ten.

Additionally, her article “The Rising Tide of Juvenile Violence: The Natural Disaster of Values Free Culture, Education and Families?” was recently listed on SSRN’s Top Ten download list for WGSRN: Child Health, Adolescent Health (Sub-Topic) Top Ten.

Professors Natt Gantt, Craig Stern, and Mike Schutt are presenting several lectures at the Christian Legal Society Law School Fellows Program in Washington, D.C. on May 20-25, 2018.

Dean Michael Hernandez presented Biblical Liability: Textual Analysis and Modern Application on March 20 at the Spring Law Faculty Colloquium, which considers and analyzes the different levels of liability under Old Testament law and considers the relevance of the biblical liability scheme for contemporary law.
