Military & Veterans Affairs is responsible for all military student recruiting, retention, and community efforts within the university. Senior Director of Traditional Admissions
Director of Military Enrollment
Bob Habib is the senior director of traditional admissions and director of military enrollment for Regent University. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army, spending 10 years as an Educational Department Chair for the Armed Forces School of Music, a multi-service, adult education training institution. He taught and mentored over 2,000 service members while also developing new curriculum for numerous resident and non-resident courses. Habib spent many years developing strategic partnerships with secondary and other post-secondary educational institutions. As an educational manager, he worked with several service schools’ registrars developing and implementing complex student schedules and professional development plans. He has been a public school teacher for Virginia Beach, and has served the DOD as an instructional designer for mid- and senior-level leadership courses. Habib earned his M.Ed. from Regent, and is a current Doctor of Strategic Leadership student.
Assistant Director of Military & Veterans Affairs
Jose Roman is the assistant director of Military & Veterans Affairs, a Mission Continues Fellow, and retired serviceman with 22 years in the United States Navy. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V” device, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Roman is an alumnus of Old Dominion University. He helped establish the university military career transition program and the Military Connection Center on campus. He helped grow the Student Veterans of America chapter to over 300+ student and faculty members, and helped launch the 1st state-wide Student Veterans of Virginia conference. As a fellow with the Mission Continues, Roman worked with Habitat for Humanity developing Habitat for Heroes, a program to support affordable housing options for active military and veterans in the Hampton Roads community.
Military Benefits Manager
Jessica Reid serves as the Military Benefits Manager for Regent University. Also located in the Military Resource Center, she is able to assist students with all military financial benefits and military academic reporting.
Jessica graduated from Regent’s College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, and she is happy to relate to you about her Regent online undergraduate experience. She is passionate about helping service members and their families both on and off the job. Her sister is a military wife and her brother-in-law is a submariner stationed in Norfolk. Jessica and her husband TJ have served as pastors in several churches throughout the country. She hopes to use her ministry and psychology background to continue to serve the unique needs of military marriages and families.
VA Certifying Official
LaTonya Slade is the VA Certifying Official for Regent University. She served over 20 years in the U. S. Coast Guard, retiring as a Chief Health Services Technician (HSC). She successfully navigated the military benefits system as an active duty member and as a veteran (online and traditional student). LaTonya holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Psychology. She is passionate about serving others in the community and assisting our military veterans and their families in reaching their goals. LaTonya looks forward to supporting and guiding you in the use of your military benefits.
