Mike Schietzelt, J.D.

Bio

Mike Schietzelt serves as Lecturer at Regent University School of Law and as Constitutional Law Fellow at the Robertson Center for Constitutional Law. Schietzelt holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law, where he served as a research editor of the Duke Law Journal.

Schietzelt began his legal career as a law clerk to Chief Justice Mark Martin on the Supreme Court of North Carolina. Before coming to Regent, Schietzelt was a legal fellow at the John Locke Foundation, a nonprofit policy research organization in Raleigh NC. At John Locke, Schietzelt worked with the NC General Assembly to advocate state and local criminal law reforms.

As Constitutional Law Fellow, Schietzelt has drafted and filed amicus briefs in the Supreme Court of the United States and United States Circuit Courts of Appeals in cases implicating the First Amendment and separation of powers. Before law school, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps as a member of "The Commandant's Own," the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps in Washington, DC.
