Vincent Williams, MFA

Associate Professor Vince Williams was raised in Dallas, Texas where he earned a bachelor’s degree in film, television and radio from Southern Methodist University. He continued onto Chapman University in Orange County, California, where he completed his master’s degree in film production.

Williams’ thesis film, The Malt Shop in the Sky, a documentary about his family opening a 50s-style diner, was a film festival hit and inspired a decade of work as a producer and director of documentary films including Straight Street, The Granny Globetrotter, Go Lucy Go and Poets of the Mountain. In 2014, Williams was brought on as a volunteer video producer with the nonprofit organization Orphan Outreach, whose mission is to improve the lives of orphans and at-risk children through early intervention, education and evangelism. Since then, Williams has produced over 20 promotional videos and two documentaries in India, Guatemala, Russia, Honduras, Latvia and Ukraine through Orphan Outreach.

Throughout the years, Williams has worked with many clients as a video production specialist helming projects for the International Student Foundation, Bravo, Haynes & Boone Law Firm, The Richards Group, Southern Baptist Texas Convention, Sons of the Flag Burn Foundation, Neiman Marcus, Gemmy Industries, Fazl Socks and My PC School. He produces music videos and social media spots for the Spanish-musician Ranfis, as well as his constant involvement in the narrative film world as a writer, producer, cinematographer and editor.

Before joining Regent as an associate professor of Media & Visual Arts, Williams taught for eight years at The Art Institute of Dallas and Houston Baptist University as an associate professor of cinematography, short filmmaking, documentary and news production.
