Justice Elizabeth Lang Miers
Elizabeth Lang Miers served as a Justice on the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas at Dallas from 2003, when Governor Perry appointed her, until December 2018, when she retired. During her time on the Court of Appeals, she served as Chair of the Multi District Litigation Panel for the State of Texas. She began her legal career as law clerk to the Honorable James A. Finch, Jr. of the Supreme Court of Missouri. She then served as an associate and a partner with the predecessor firm to Locke Lord LLP for 27 years. After she retired from the Court of Appeals, she returned to private practice and is now a partner with Locke Lord LLP, and is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and of the Missouri Bar Association.

Other awards and honors she has received include: Recipient, Samuel Pessarra Outstanding Jurist Award, Texas Bar Foundation (Outstanding Judge in Texas among all state and federal judges); Recipient, Citation of Merit “For Outstanding Achievement and Meritorious Service in the Law” from the University of Missouri School of Law.
Justice Lang Miers earned her B.A. from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia, Missouri.
