Bio

Ruth Cody grew up in Virginia Beach. She retired from nursing after more than 35 years employed in a variety of specialty areas before moving to academia. She received her Master of Science in Nursing Education from South University and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Old Dominion University. She has been teaching as a visiting professor since 2011 at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Ruth is board-certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. Joining Regent allows her to bring her love for Christ together with her passion for nursing and teaching.

“My goal is to promote a positive, Christian, learning environment and to encourage students to take ownership of their own learning. I want to foster a desire for lifelong learning in the student and want them to partner with me in the learning process,” says Cody. Adding, “I also want students to leave the class with a desire to care for others and serve as leaders as Jesus cared and served. Ultimately nurses have the responsibility to love one another as He loved us.”

In her free time, Cody enjoys church, audiobooks, cooking; and spending time with her husband, grown children and grandchildren.
