Don Krudop, DMA
Dr. Don Krudop was born and raised in Mendham, NJ. He left the Garden State to study Music Education at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA, moved to Virginia Beach upon graduating, and has remained at the beach for his entire teaching career.
In addition to serving on the music faculty at Regent, Krudop is the Artistic Director of the Virginia Beach Chorale, an 80-voice community choir based in the resort city. Founded in 1958, it’s southeastern Virginia’s longest-tenured performing arts ensemble.
Krudop holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education, Master of Music in Conducting and Bachelor of Music Education from Shenandoah University and a Master of Education in Administration from Regent. While at Shenandoah, he studied conducting with Grammy award-winner Robert Shafer. Krudop was also honored to participate in Robert Shaw’s Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop.
Choirs under Krudop’s direction have performed in the White House, National Cathedral, and National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC; Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Riverside Church in New York; the Bath Abbey, Yorkminster, and Westminster Abbey in England, UK; and sang the national anthem for President Barack Obama when he visited Virginia Beach in 2012. His choirs have also served as the mainstage chorus for the Virginia Arts Festival's International Tattoo and have performed numerous times at both the Virginia Music Educators Association annual conference and the Southern Division convention of the National Association for Music Education.
