Job Description

The Vice President for Advancement provides leadership for services related to the Advancement of the University. The individual in this position is responsible for supporting the CEO in a successful University-wide fund development effort, including annual fund initiatives, both corporate and foundation relations, planned and deferred giving, and special events. The Vice President for Advancement advises the CEO and other senior leadership on revenue generation and constituency development working to implement the strategic plan for Regent University. The individual in this position also is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the University’s relationships with targeted constituents and for increasing the University’s image and reputation with key publics. The Vice President for Advancement provides guidance and training to the Advancement staff in biblical stewardship, comprehensive fund development programs, and institutional marketing and communications. The Vice President for Advancement supervises the departments of Advancement, Alumni Relations, and Special Events.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the position will possess:

  • A clear, compelling, and convincing Christian commitment, exhibiting a lifestyle consistent with the mission of Regent University
  • Seasoned development professional, preferably with significant, successful experience in the higher education sector
  • A track record of leading or significantly contributing to successful capital campaigns in excess of $100M
  • A track record of personal responsibility for at least ten $10M+ gifts within professional portfolio
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement planned giving and annual campaigns which achieved or exceeded established goals
  • A track record of success in developing new advancement initiatives and leading change
  • Proven ability to establish policies informed by advancement and philanthropic best practice, and to collaborate effectively with the campus community to ensure appropriate prioritization of opportunities and adherence to established policies
  • At least 10 years of experience in a leadership position and proven leadership ability
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly desired.
  • Broad experience in development activities in the private sector with at least 10 years of experience in fund development or sales and marketing. Experience in teaching ministry, general administration, financial management, development supervision, communications and marketing, and extensive coordination with trustees is desired.
