Fanny’s arrival disrupts the routine of life and worship among the 1830’s Shaker society in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky. When she starts seeing angels, and the other young women follow suit with similar spiritual experiences, her motives and honesty are questioned. The leaders are forced to grapple with the authenticity of these gifts, and what it means if they haven’t received them too. Heavenly hymns accompany earthly chores in this compelling drama.
