I was born and raised in Ohio, and earned my J.D. at The Ohio State University College of Law. After practicing law in Arizona, I moved to Virginia Beach in 1987 to join the faculty of the new law school at what was then CBN University. I taught and researched in the areas of Torts, Nonprofit Organizations, Contracts, Criminal Law, and Commercial Law. I served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the law school from 1999 to 2014. In 2014 I joined the university’s Office of Academic Affairs as Associate Vice President, remaining there until 2019, when I transitioned to the College of Arts & Sciences.
In addition to my work at Regent, I have a part-time law practice with Davis Law Group in Chesapeake, Virginia. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Carole. We have four children and ten grandchildren, with two more grandchildren on the way. I enjoy hiking, running, yardwork, and travel.
