Vision and Mission Statement

Regent University Royals student-athletes are Christian leaders defined by their pursuit to emulate the character of Christ. This exemplary pursuit of Christ-like character is consistent with our “Winning with Character” approach to athletics.

  • Royals student-athletes are driven at their core by the mission and vision of the university. They seek to refine their athletic skills and talent on a deeper level as they encourage their teammates to succeed at their highest capacity.
  • Regent Royals student-athletes represent biblical traits in athletic competitions such as: humility, honor, integrity, courage, and competitiveness.
  • Regent Royals student-athletes are aggressive but walk in humility; they are confident but never arrogant; they are high achievers wherever they are called; they love God and love others.
  • Regent Royals student-athletes represent the boldness that comes from believing in our God who grants strength to endure through every challenge and obstacle.

On or off the field, they are Christian Leaders to Change the World.

What Defines a Regent Royals Athlete?

They are powerful without aggression. They are bold protectors and high achievers. They are humble warriors and passionate encouragers. In all things, Regent athletes seek to represent a God who grants them strength to endure through every challenge and obstacle. On the field and off. Win or lose.

Regent University’s transformational approach to athletic competition equips student-athletes to be winners first and foremost in Christian character; competing to win, yet transcending the scoreboard to be Christian leaders to change the sports world.

The role of the Regent University Athletic Department is to equip our young men and women for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service to their professions, society, family, and Church.

Our society so often wants to place sports and those who compete on a pedestal. God wants us to use sports as a platform to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the power and impact of sports. We believe in the unique difference a quality athletic experience can make in a person’s life.

All student-athletes, coaches and staff members of Regent University are ambassadors of the institution and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is of the highest possible standards at all times both on and off the campus community.

It takes a SPECIAL PERSON to “step out” and compete. It takes COURAGE and FAITH. You receive immediate feedback and there is a clear outcome in every competition. Many people go through life and never “step out” in faith. We trust God to bless our efforts!

The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act requires co-educational institutions of postsecondary education that participate in a Title IV, federal student financial assistance program, and have an intercollegiate athletic program, to prepare an annual report to the Department of Education on athletic participation, staffing, and revenues and expenses, by men’s and women’s teams. The EADA reports the institution’s commitment to providing equitable athletic opportunities for its men and women students. The department will use this information in preparing its required report to the congress on gender equity in intercollegiate athletics. All institutions of higher education that participate in the federal student aid program(s) must complete their annual EADA report by October 15.
