Resident Assistants Win Awards at Annual Conference

November 9, 2009

Regent Delegation

Regent University sent it’s first-ever Resident Assistant (RA) delegation to the annual Virginia Association of College and University Housing Officers (VACUHO) conference, hosted at Shenandoah University with approximately 300 RAs in attendance. The team claimed two awards, including "VACUHO New RA of the Year Award," earned by Regent Commons RA Cindy Arocho, who beat out 32 other nominees, and the "VACUHO Most Spirited Small School Award," besting 14 other institutions.

These prestigious statewide awards come on the heels of RA Ben Kay being selected to the Virginia Association of College and University Resident Halls (VACURH) State Board in September and two Regent RAs (Molly Eccles and Jenna Wegrzynowicz) placing in the seven-state Caldwell & Gregory Bulletin Board Contest occurring in October.

Regent Commons Area Director, Adam Williams, stated, "The RAs went not knowing what to expect, but did so with an amazing amount of enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Cindy Arocho winning the New RA of the Year Award is a sign of good things to come in the future for student housing."
