  • Writing Across the Content Areas | Online | 60 Licensure Points
    Grades: 1-8
    Cost: $140 for current teachers; $99 for Regent Students
    Dates: October 8-November 18, 2018
    Instructor: Dr. Jenny Sue Flannagan
    In the classroom, writing is a way students can show their thinking. In this course, teachers will learn various instructional strategies that can be used to help students develop various different types of writing to show their understanding of content. Please expect between 7-10 hours of work time for this course a week.

  • Performance Based Assessment | Online | 60 Licensure Points
    Grades: K-12
    Cost: $140 for current teachers; $99 for Regent Students
    Dates: October 8-November 18, 2018
    Instructor: Dr. Jenny Sue Flannagan
    In this course we will explore the potential that performance-based assessments have to engage students in the application of content knowledge and skills in authentic situations. We'll look at principles for effective performance assessments and explore a framework to facilitate the planning and developing of effective assessments. We'll also examine how to develop high-quality scoring rubrics that align with performance assessments or as stand-alone rubrics that can be used with general classroom tasks. Please expect between 7-10 hours of work time for this course a week.

  • Science in the Early Childhood Classroom | Online | 60 Licensure Points
    Grades: PreK-K
    Cost: $140 for current teachers; $99 for Regent Students
    Dates: October 8-November 18, 2018

    The goal of science is to understand the natural world through a process known as scientific inquiry. In this course we will look at ways to use simple activities to spark a young child's curiosity while connecting to literacy elements. Please expect between 7-10 hours of work time for this course a week.
