Degree Overview

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), primarily an online program with some face-to-face requirements, is designed to facilitate the learning styles of adults by providing a collaborative community for higher-level thinking and problem solving. Undergirding the program are four key components: critical thinking, scholarly research that informs practice, writing, and learning from a Christian worldview. All students must complete a culminating experience: the submission and successful defense of a doctoral dissertation. Students possessing an Ed.S. or equivalent may be admitted to the Ed.D. program with advanced standing after a review of their post-master’s transcript(s).

Concentration Description

The online Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Leadership & Management is designed to prepare mid- to senior- level administrators at Christian higher educational institutions for positions of significant administrative leadership, thus, preparing the next generation of Christian leaders on campuses across the nation and internationally. This degree focuses on infusing key leadership concepts and knowledge with faith and learning, technology, applied Christian ethics, and the development of a Christian worldview and administrative philosophy.

Program Highlights

Length: 66 credit hour minimum (an additional 35 or more hours beyond the Ed.S. or its equivalent)
Format: Offered in a cohort model, students may begin the program in the fall, spring or summer semesters. Courses are delivered online with some required face-to-face components. School division cohorts are also offered in varying formats.
Results: Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership & Management. The Ed.S. is awarded after completion of 31 credit hours. The Doctor of Education degree is awarded after completion of 66+ credit hours.
