Commissioning Service 2016
Congratulations! You have made it through your graduate studies—you have made it to graduation! We are excited that you have decided to join us for our Commissioning Service and look forward to meeting your families and friends.
You may be asking, “What is a Commissioning Service?” To commission someone is “to entrust, or to give authority” or “to appoint or assign to a task or function.” At graduation you leave from Regent with training and preparation, to go out into the world and fulfill the call God has on your life (Isaiah 61:1-3). Within the context of our graduation, Commissioning is a sacred and holy time of worship, consecration, reflection, prayer and anointing.
Please keep in mind that the Commissioning Service will begin promptly at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 5, 2016, but graduates are required to arrive at the Welcome Center Lobby by 3:30 p.m. to check-in and line up! The Welcome Center is in the divinity building right beside the Chapel.
All graduates are required to wear their gowns, but should not wear their caps. Each graduate must check-in upon arrival at the Welcome Center lobby and at that time will be given further directions. Please pick up your cap and gown before you check in. The Commissioning schedule is listed in detail below.
|2:30 - 3:30||Open house/reception in divinity building Dean's Suite|
|3:30 - 3:45||Graduates check-in at Welcome Center Lobby (please be on time!); Proceed to DIV 177 or DIV 179 for initial line-up.|
|3:45 - 3:55||Graduates line up outside of Narthex/Chapel for processional|
|4:00 - 5:30||Commissioning Service|
|5:30||Photographs taken of graduates following the service|
Each graduate planning to attend the service must submit the RSVP no later than
April 29, 2016 so that we may plan accordingly. If you will not be able to join us for the Commissioning Service, please know that we are proud of your achievement and will include you in our prayers for the graduates.
Parking is in the Main Visitor Parking (L), located behind the Communication and the Arts building and reflected on the attached campus map.
Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions. You may contact us at email@example.com.
We pray for strength and wisdom as you complete the final weeks of the semester and encourage you to finish strong!
