Professor Scott Hayes serves as chair in the Department of Theatre Arts. He is an associate professor specializing in acting, directing and theatre history. He is an actor, director and award-winning playwright who has written five plays and numerous sketches.

Professor Hayes has been teaching, producing, and directing for 17 years. He has worked at five universities throughout the United States and England and has served as artistic director for two professional companies. He continues his professional work as a director and actor, and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Actors Equity Association. He is a fitness enthusiastic, having completed marathons, half-marathons, and triathlons, and has presented workshops combining cross training with stage combat techniques. At Regent, he teaches courses on directing, the Meisner technique, periods and styles, Shakespeare, dialects, research and aesthetics, and theatre in ministry.

Academic Philosophy

To inspire students to develop comprehensive, effective and individual approaches as they deal with enhancing their craft while honing their worldview.
