Study Abroad Trip: Panama City, Panama

Regent University's School of Business & Leadership (SBL), in cooperation with Regent's Office of Global Affairs, is delighted to offer a Study Abroad Trip to Panama City, Panama, where SBL students will have the opportunity to hear and learn from experts in the fields of leadership, entrepreneurship, business and academia while enjoying the vibrancy of a Latin metropolis.

Students will explore issues related to the fields of leadership, business and entrepreneurship, including:

  • Government support levels of entrepreneurs
  • Market entrance barriers
  • Marketing
  • Local customer segments
  • Human resources and leadership
  • The availability of investment capital to local and foreign entrepreneurs
  • Cross-cultural leadership


This trip is not being offered for credit, however, students enrolled in SBL programs will be given the opportunity to substitute regular course assignments with a study trip related assignment as directed by the lead faculty of each course.

Spouses of SBL students are welcome to attend. They will have to register and pay the same rate.

Make Travel Arrangements through your own travel agent or an online reservation service to and from Tocumen International Airport (IATA code: PTY) after you have reviewed the itinerary.

Airport Pick-up from Tocumen International Airport to Hotel: Travelers can contact Bon Voyage Travel Agency via email ahead of time to coordinate and book airport pick up. Contact Ms. Desiree Forero at Travel agency phone numbers are (507) 396 97 20 and (507) 396 97 22. Miss Forero's cell number is (507) 6679-9135. Payments for airport pick-up ($20.00 one way) will be made in U.S. dollars directly to the travel agency when the service is used.

Tocumen International Airport also offers Taxi Service that travelers can utilize at approximately $30.00 - $35.00 (one way).

Cost: $1,465.00 [per person; double occupancy room] or $ 1,878.00 [per person; single occupancy room]

Above stated price includes:

  • Lodging at Victoria Suites & Hotel
  • Daily ground transportation to scheduled events and meetings
  • Bilingual guide
  • Breakfast and lunch

Above stated price does NOT include:

  • Air travel to and from Panama City (including any airport fees, taxes)
  • Transportation to and from airport
  • Dinners
  • Panama Canal tour (half-day tour, which includes entrance at Miraflores Locks; $50.00)
  • Required medical and travel insurance through On Call International (approx. $55.00-$100.00)
Travel Insurance: Each travel participant is required to purchase short-term overseas travel and medical insurance through On Call International.  Short-term coverage with this company ranges from $50.00 - $100.00. All participants are required to show proof of coverage at time of registration through On Call International.

Passport Information: Passports have to be valid for at least six months from the day the person enters Panama.

Travel Visa: Although there are no visa requirements for tourism for most countries, a $5.00 tourist card must be purchased when entering Panama. Please check Panama's official tourism travel site for the most accurate visa information.
Vaccinations: Panama does not require vaccinations. However, travelers should check with their physicians to determine if additional vaccinations are required to travel to Panama. Vaccinations depend on travelers' vaccination history. Also, travelers should check the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) website for updates on Panama.

Health Advisory & Special Accommodations: This international program can be rigorous, and some of the events may require demanding physical activities; therefore, participants should possess the ability to:

  1. Walk one mile without rest
  2. Stand for 30 minutes without sitting
  3. Climb three flights of stairs without assistance
  4. Hear group instructions
  5. Read and understand written instructions and signs
  6. Step in and out of busses or shuttles

Regent University may be unable to provide special accommodations for people with disabilities. If someone needs accommodation or assistance, that person must bring a companion/assistant at full price. Cancellation & Refund Policies: 100% refund of deposit or full payment if cancelled on or before July 7, 2011. No refunds after the registration and payment deadline of July 7, 2011.
Minimum Number of Participants: Note that the minimum number of study trip participants is 10. The trip will be cancelled should the number of registrations not reach the minimum of 10 by the end of the day, July 7, 2011. In case of such cancellation, all payments will be refunded at 100%. The refund will not, however, apply to or include the travel insurance through On Call International.
