Congratulations! You have made it to graduation! We are excited that you have decided to join us for our Commissioning Service and look forward to meeting your families and friends.
To commission someone is “to entrust, or to give authority” or “to appoint or assign to a task or function.” Within the context of our graduation, Commissioning is a sacred and holy time of worship, consecration, reflection, prayer and anointing.
The service was live streamed.
Your friends and family are welcome and encouraged to join you for this special occasion.
To participate in Commissioning all graduates must RSVP. Please RSVP in Genisys (whether you are or are not planning to attend). If you are attending, please indicate number of guests you will have with you.
Graduates must RSVP in Genisys for this event by April 15.
Children are welcome to join us. Please consider that it is a formal ceremony which can last up to two hours and judge accordingly. There will be a section in the balcony that is reserved for families with young children that you may opt to use if you wish.
Pick up your regalia on campus before the Commissioning Ceremony. For regalia pickup dates and times refer to the “When and how should I order my regalia?” section of Commencement 2017 FAQs.
Wear your gown, bring your hood, but not the cap. No head wear is permitted. Professional attire is appropriate. Women should wear neutral or dark colored hosiery, not white. Do not bring purses or cameras, please leave them with your guests.
No, it will be live streamed. A link will be sent out by email a few days before the ceremony.
Graduates should remain in the chapel until their degree program group has been photographed. Guests may take photos during the ceremony, but no picture taking will be permitted in the aisles.
