Bio
Dr. Robert H. Carpenter’s service as assistant professor for the Regent University School of Divinity began in July 2023.
Carpenter enjoyed growing up in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area until leaving for Berry College in Rome, Georgia, in June 1987, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications/Public Relations on a Chick-fil-A scholarship.
After receiving the call to serve in full-time ministry, he attended and graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, with a Master of Divinity degree in Theology in December 1992.
Chaplain Carpenter continued his graduate studies and earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from The Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth at Southern Seminary in December 2001. After feeling led by God to pursue a second Doctor of Ministry degree, he began his new studies in September 2003.
Upon completing all academic requirements, he graduated in May 2007 with a major in Expository Preaching and a dissertation concentration in spiritual warfare and the Armor of God. CAPT Carpenter has been awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 stars), Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (1 star), National Defense Service Medal (1 star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon. Before his retirement in September 2021, Chaplain Carpenter served as the deputy chaplain of the Marine Corps for Reserve Matters at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
