Mark J. Cartledge, Ph.D.

Professor of Practical Theology

Bio

Dr. Mark J. Cartledge is a professor of Practical Theology. He is a minister ordained in the Church of England for more than 29 years. He is a theologian and a scholar of Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity. He has worked in parish ministry, overseas theological education in an Anglican seminary in Nigeria, as well as campus ministry in the United Kingdom at Universities of Liverpool and Durham.


He has also taught in a seminary (Durham) and secular University departments in the UK (Lampeter and Birmingham), prior to coming to Regent. During this time, he has remained active in ordained ministry at parish level and regularly leads worship, preaches and participates in congregational life. He has experience of suburban, urban and rural ministry. He met his wife as an undergraduate student at the London School of Theology, then called London Bible College, and has been married for nearly 30 years. Together they have one daughter.

Awards

Principal Investigator, Arts and Humanities Research Council Grant (AHRC) 2013-2016 (total value of the project is $1,080,387; the AHRC Research Council contribution is $863,337). The project is entitled 'Megachurches and Social Engagement in London.' Since moving to the USA, Professor Cartledge has become the Co-Investigator and continues to be involved in the project.
