Performing Arts & Music

The Performing Arts & Music division seeks to express life’s most profound truths as deposited in music and drama and expressed through the power and passion of live performance. We train artists who share our vision and our desire to have a positive and spirit-filled impact upon the professional stage, as well as the many venues of local community and the church. Whether you sing, act, direct, dance or write, our programs will stretch you to the place where your gifts can be best developed and best used.

Faculty

The study of communication and the arts is central to what God has called us to as creatures made in His image, and in particular as those redeemed by Jesus Christ. Our work together as a vibrant Christian community brings order, meaning, and beauty to those around us. We search for new ways to take joy in God and his creation—by engaging in aesthetic beauty, in story, in humor, in emotion, all the various means we have to connect with others, and doing so on the highest professional level. In so doing we make visible the invisible God and bring Christ to the world.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Regent University’s $35 million Communication & Performing Arts Center has earned the respect of industry professionals, artists and patrons throughout the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The 140,000-square-foot building houses a state-of-the-art main theatre, costume shop, scene shop, a studio theatre, green room and more — providing emerging artists every opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and experience the world of professional theatre.

Resident Acting Company

The Resident Acting Company for college students is housed within the Performing Arts & Music division and is comprised of our MFA in Acting students. While students in other degree programs, such as our B.A. and M.A. programs regularly perform in our theatre season, our MFA students have a singular focus on professional hands-on theatre education and actor training. These exceptionally talented actors in the Regent University student theatre company are featured not only in Regent Theatre productions, but in film, television and voice-over.
