Certificate of Graduate Studies in Political Communication

Robertson School of Government

The Certificate in Political Communication, offered online and on campus, will allow you to advance your knowledge in media gatekeeping and policymaking — all from a biblical perspective. You may earn a 12-credit (4 course) certificate of graduate studies in a targeted discipline, either to expand your degree program or as a stand-alone certificate. Through this program, you will learn to produce targeted, relevant public relations messages and serve as media influences with a Christian worldview.

  • Learn to influence citizens through conventional and social media and respond quickly and accurately as a principled media representative.
  • Examine how mass media influences people’s attitudes, values, beliefs and practice through applied research projects.
  • Produce weekly news stories that will hone your investigation, writing and production skills in creating local and regional news.

This certificate may help advance your career as a media spokesperson, press secretary, or public relations officer at NGO's and nonprofit organizations by equipping you as an expert in your field.

The Certificate of Graduate Studies offers an excellent opportunity for those not requiring a master's degree. This option is often used by those needing continuing education credits or for those who wish to complement their existing degree with additional training for career advancement. Upon completing the certificate, students have the option of applying to the master's program, and if accepted, all courses taken toward the certificate transfer in.
