As online education continues to flourish, Regent University's School of Business & Leadership (SBL) is training a generation of students to lead this new terrain from the frontlines.

On Thursday, July 3, Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) announced Dr. Bryan Easley '11 (SBL), as its dean of online learning at the school's adult and graduate studies division based in Tulsa, Okla.; an opportunity that he is well-prepared for as a result of his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, as Dr. Doris Gomez, SBL interim dean, explained.

"We at the School of Business & Leadership celebrate Dr. Easley's new appointment at Oklahoma Wesleyan University," said Gomez, who serves as the interim dean of SBL. "It provides us all great joy to see how God positions our graduates for His service. Our prayers and blessings go with Dr. Easley as he embarks on this new journey. As he has been a great blessing to us, he will be to all at OKWU. Well done."

Easley will begin his term on Monday, July 14, a reality he is excited about.

"This is where my ministry calling lies, and a lot of my training at Regent especially relates to that broader area of work in terms of providing leadership for Christian education," said Easley. "It's a good fit for the experience and training I have and the education I've undertaken."

Easley explained that his time at Regent prepared him by challenging him academically and pushing him to engage the questions and unique challenges present in his calling. The interdisciplinary nature of the degree itself was another significant factor. But, Easley said the most beneficial part of his degree was his on-campus residency.

"Another thing that really shaped me was the character and the spiritual lives of the faculty I spent time with," said Easley. "Those concentrated times with them were significant."

Before his promotion, Easley served as an adjunct online professor for OKWU. Since August 2011, he has taught several courses including Spiritual Formation, Introduction to the New Testament, and Ministry in Pluralistic Culture.

Prior to his work at OKWU, Easley was the President of Emmaus Biblical Seminary (Cap Haïtien, Haiti); and the Associate Director of Distance Learning at Wesley Biblical Seminary (Jackson, Miss.).

Easley has also served as a faculty member in many different roles for several other universities including Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Barclay College (Haviland, Kan.).

But Easley's experience doesn't end with higher education; he was also Vice President of Ministry and Leadership Development for World Renewal International, as well as the producer for Mississippi Public Broadcasting for Mississippi Outdoors, a weekly 30-minute magazine show.
