Regent Hosts ELS Sponsor Appreciation Breakfast

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." This observation by noted leadership expert John Maxwell captures the sentiment that Regent University places on leadership. Regent recently shared that quote with local businesses who "show the way" by partnering with the university to present the Executive Leadership Series (ELS).

On Thursday, June 6, Regent's Office of Advancement hosted the annual ELS Sponsor Appreciation Breakfast, where representatives from 28 local businesses received plaques inscribed with Maxwell's quote, thanking them for their distinguished partnership.

"You have all been the visionaries, and you have seen the value of continuous learning for yourselves and your employees," said Ann LeBlanc, vice president of Avancement. "You have seen the value of hearing from men and women of great accomplishment."

Morgan Davis, president of TowneBank, is one of the visionaries to recognize the value of ELS. TowneBank served as the presenting sponsor of this year's ELS—contributing $25,000 to leadership development for Regent and business, military and government leaders in the southeastern Virginia community.

"TowneBank and Regent are of one mind in the belief that leadership is the most important element in any successful organized endeavor-and that leaders are not born, they learn to become leaders," said Davis. "We are delighted to partner with one of the most successful institutions of higher learning in the country to develop a more complete understanding of leadership in Hampton Roads."

Every month during the academic year, Regent presents a distinguished speaker and leader from various disciplines within the marketplace. The support of ELS sponsors helps make these programs possible.

"The opportunity to present to the community the kinds of outstanding leaders who regularly speak at our ELS luncheons is a privilege," said Regent president Dr. Carlos Campo. "It is the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors that allows us to share excellent lessons in leadership to the people of Hampton Roads, including students from area schools who will become our future leaders."
