| January 15, 2013

Regent University's online bachelor's degree programs have been ranked in the nation's top 10 by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013 rankings of online programs at colleges and universities released Tuesday, Jan. 15. This marks the second year that U.S. News assessed online bachelor's degree programs, as well as master's programs in several academic disciplines.

Regent's online MBA degree program tied for first in the nation in the criteria of faculty credentials and training, and was ranked in the top third overall. Regent's online graduate education program was the highest ranked Virginia school, coming in at number 43 overall. Graduate-level programs were scored using similar categories to the bachelor's degree programs.

"Our goal at Regent is to deliver the highest quality, top-ranked, best-value Christian education possible," said Regent president, Dr. Carlos Campo. "Receiving a top 10 national ranking among online universities from U.S. News & World Report helps quantify our commitment to educational excellence. We are certain that as prospective online students become more savvy and selective about their online school of choice, more and more of them will turn to Regent University to fulfill their academic goals. At a time when online education continues to evolve, Regent has invested in a comprehensive curriculum and holistic approach intended to match the demands that employers say is needed from today's graduates. And, we've taken care to deliver our programs at a high value for tuition dollars invested."

Regent ranked number 10 overall in online bachelor programs. U.S. News ranked the bachelor degree programs based on faculty credentials and training, student engagement and assessment practices, and student services and technology.

Among the other universities ranked in the top 10 was St. John's University in New York. Other notable colleges in the top 20 include the University of Nebraska, Omaha; Penn State; Marist College and the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Regent's online programs offer the same courses taught by the same on-campus faculty, on both undergraduate and graduate levels. More than 4,500 students—approximately 75 percent of all students—take at least one class online. Included in this number are about 80 percent of Regent's military students.

Currently, Regent offers 11 bachelor's degrees completely online, including business, leadership and management, criminal justice, and psychology. Components of other degree programs are also offered online.

"Our faculty and staff are committed to delivering an excellent, distinct and innovative education to all of our students—online or on our campus—and this top 10 national ranking provides objective evidence that we are delivering on this promise," said Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riano, dean of Regent's College of Arts & Sciences. "We are grateful to have reached this milestone and look forward to continuing to educate tomorrow's leaders on our campus or online."

Regent's online education program is one of nearly 860 programs surveyed by U.S. News. Only regionally accredited schools that met the federal standard of 100 percent online course delivery were evaluated.
