Faculty, Alumni Contribute to New Book
By Julia Mattera, School of Business & Leadership | October 9, 2012
Regent University School of Business & Leadership (SBL) Associate Professor Dr. Mihai Bocarnea is an expert in research methods, quantitative analysis and statistics, so it's no surprise that the publishing firm IGI Global approached him about editing their book, Online Instruments, Data Collection, and Electronic Measurements: Organizational Advancements, released in October.
Seeking editorial collaboration, Bocarnea invited Dr. Jason Baker, professor in Regent's School of Education, to serve with him as one of the co-editors for this book which aims to assist researchers in both understanding and utilizing online data collection.
The book's chapters were authored by scholars from around the world, including a number of Regent faculty whose work was accepted for publication following a rigorous blind-review process. Regent faculty authors include: Dr. Bruce Winston, SBL dean, Dr. Corné Bekker, SBL professor, Dr. Mihai Bocarnea, SBL associate professor, Dr. M. Gail Derrick, School of Education (SOE) interim dean and Dr. Jason Baker, SOE professor.
Several SBL alumni were also contributing authors, including Dr. Jeff Hale '10, Dr. John Kilroy '08, Dr. Dan Lawson '08, Dr. Rushton (Rusty) Ricketson '08, Dr. David Winner '08, Dr. Hazel Traüffer '08, Dr. Jamie Swalm '10, Dr. Tracy Porter '11, Dr. Sharon Norris '11, and Dr. J. Alan Marshall '12.
Touted as a premier reference source by IGI Global, this book provides a unique resource for organizational scholars, practitioners and researchers in various disciplines by combining organizational leadership instruments with practical and ethical issues related to online data collection.
Readers will learn to understand and manage the advantages and challenges of online survey data collection; discover new tools and gain expert advice regarding study design, online tool usage, and data analysis techniques; and will learn how to develop a plan for continued validation of the instruments across disciplines.
