New Business Master’s Degrees for Church and Not-for-Profit

Church and nonprofit leaders looking to develop exceptional leadership skills can find two new Master of Arts (M.A.) degree programs in Regent’s School of Business & Leadership (SBL).

“Ministry and nonprofit organizations increasingly are beginning to recognize the great need for leaders with the competencies that Regent’s degrees provide,” said Dr. Doris Gomez, SBL dean. “It is crucial for ministry and non-profit leaders to acquire the skills and competencies needed to successfully and effectively lead their organizations and the people entrusted to them.“

Master of Arts in Church Leadership

Totaling 33 credits, the M.A. in Church Leadership provides a biblical perspective of organizational leadership that prepares students to motivate teams, engage in strategic thinking, spiritual formation, and tackle ethics as leaders in ministry in churches or missions. The program studies the tactics and characteristics of successful leaders throughout history, focuses on motivation, coaching and mentoring, with an emphasis on communication and strategic thinking. The degree can even be customized to focus on fundraising, managing not-for-profit organizations, ministry administration, pastoral care, servant leadership or online technologies.

Master of Arts in Not-for-Profit Leadership

Also 33 credits, the new M.A. in Not-for-Profit Leadership targets those who lead, or aspire to lead, not-for-profit or faith-based organizations. Coursework explores board-staff relations, recruiting, motivating volunteers, managing growth, and responding to political and economic challenges. Students will learn how to generate support, plan campaigns, and market products and services. A special emphasis is placed on communication to achieve organizational satisfaction and effectiveness.

“Many students coming into our degree programs say that they didn’t realize how much there truly is to learn about leadership and how better equipped they are for the challenges of leadership as they move through their coursework with us,” Gomez shared.

The new leadership degree programs are offered in Regent’s convenient online eight-week format. Full-time students can complete the programs in as little as one year.

SBL is also offering new concentrations in the Master of Business Administration and Master of Organizational Leadership programs. Also a new M.A. in Business and Design Management was recently introduced.
