The Military Times circulates the list each year to recognize institutions for their commitment to educating and providing opportunities to America’s veterans. The publication uses a 120+ question survey to evaluate schools, data from the Veterans Affairs Department and three education department databases to make their assessments according to the Military Times website.

“Being selected as a ‘Best for Vets’ school is a great honor for Regent,” said Robert Habib, retired U.S. Army and director of Regent Graduate and Military Admissions. “This distinction provides some insight on the community environment that we have created and continue to nurture.”

Habib says that oftentimes in his work he’ll come across military service members who have “unique work-life balances.” It’s his job to give specialized attention to these students – but his work goes beyond just providing a service for his students.

“We believe that due to our intentional intersection of Christianity, leadership and superior educational opportunities, the Regent environment – on campus and online – provides an atmosphere where our military-related students will flourish,” said Habib. “We provide superior opportunities for everyone in our global community, but especially to those who serve us.”

As a U.S. Navy veteran, Jose Roman, assistant director for Regent’s Office of Military & Veterans Affairs, said the recognition shows the real dedication from the university to veterans, the active duty and military families.

“Regent is going above and beyond in its commitment to our service members, veterans and their families,” said Roman. “The institution provides services and resources to ensure a successful transition for our military affiliates.”
