Congratulations! You have made it to graduation! We are excited that you have decided to join us for our Commissioning Service and look forward to meeting your families and friends.
To commission someone is “to entrust, or to give authority” or “to appoint or assign to a task or function.” Within the context of our graduation, Commissioning is a sacred and holy time of worship, consecration, reflection, prayer and anointing.
The service was live streamed.
The Ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30 am. Graduates are to arrive at the chapel no later than 7:30 am. A class photo will be taken at 7:45 am.
The University is asking graduates to RSVP for Commencement and Commissioning via Genisys no later than Saturday, April 15th. Please follow the following instructions:
Due to the space availability in the chapel, each graduate will be limited to 5 guests. Please contact Mary Bunch (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you need additional seating.
For your planning purposes please note:
All graduates must purchase and wear regalia from Oak Hall. Regalia orders will be accepted until Friday, April 7, 2017. All graduates are required to wear the designated Oak Hall “Green Weaver” souvenir cap and gown. All regalia will be delivered to Regent and will be distributed on campus prior to Commencement. University-approved honor cords/stoles are the only additional embellishment permitted to be worn at the ceremony. Check the Commencement FAQs to confirm whether or not your organization is sanctioned by Regent to wear cords. Regalia must be picked up on campus at the Student Center with a picture ID. (Regalia cannot be mailed out on an individual basis.) Regalia will only be released to someone other than the graduate if the graduate has submitted prior written consent to the Registrar’s Office via email. Emailed consent must be sent from the graduate’s Regent email account.
Please dress appropriately for Law Commissioning, no shorts, flip flops, etc. You will pick up your black regalia robe, hood, cap, and tassel when you pick up your regalia from the Registrar’s office. Visit the University Graduation 2017 Important Information page for pickup times/locations. Wear your robe and bring your hood with you to the ceremony. Staff members will assist you with folding your hood appropriately. You will process in carrying your hood and during the hooding portion of the ceremony you will present it on stage to the faculty hooder.
Caps and tassels will not be used during the Commissioning Ceremony, but you will need them for the Saturday Commencement/Graduation.
Handicapped seating within the Chapel will be the front section to the right (the wing area). If you enter through the parking lot behind the Chapel, it is on the same side of the building as the posted handicapped parking signs. Guests may access the bathrooms by going through the door marked as the Groom’s Room. Bathrooms are also located in the lobby of the Chapel building.
