Note about required justification for laptop purchases
Due to the significant budget considerations that Regent University faces, Information Technology must be more proactive than ever in recommending solutions that reduce operating costs for the University. The costs associated with acquiring and maintaining a laptop are more than twice the cost for a desktop computer. University Leadership recognizes this significant cost and requires that laptop purchases be well justified by a direct requirement of the University for frequent travel.
The need to work from home is not considered a justification to purchase a laptop. Regent Faculty and Staff are expected to provide their own home computers. The University has invested in internet accessibility for most Regent systems. Information Technology provides VPN access for Full Time Faculty and Staff to work from home on their own computers. VPN remote access provides fast and reliable access for Faculty and Staff to access all their network files and most regent systems. For Faculty and Staff who travel infrequently, the Help Desk maintains a loaner laptop pool. Click here to make a laptop reservation.
Once the form below is received, a purchase order will be generated and it needs the signature of your department head or dean prior to the order being placed with the supplier.
