Using Your Telephone Keys Effectively

Transfer

  • Press TRANSFER key (first call is placed on consultation hold)
  • Dial number
  • Announce caller in privacy
  • Press TRANSFER key again
  • Hang up

Conference

  • Press CONFERENCE key (first call is placed on consultation hold)
  • Dial number
  • Announce conference
  • Press CONFERENCE key again
  • Repeat procedure for additional conferees (up to a total of six parties)

Call Pick-up

  • Lift handset (hear dial tone)
  • Press CALL PICK-UP key
  • This key will only be assigned if you are in a call pick-up group. You must specify which extensions need to be in the group.

Forward

  • Without lifting handset, press FORWARD key (flashing indicator)
  • Dial number where calls are to be forwarded
  • Press FORWARD key again (indicator goes on steadily)
  • To forward your calls directly to your voice mail, enter 4999, not your own extension.
  • To cancel, press FORWARD key (indicator goes off)

Speed Dial

  • To program: without lifting handset, press SPEED CALL key (flashing indicator)
  • Dial 1- or 2-digit speed call access code that you assign, then dial the number to be stored
  • Press SPEED CALL again
  • To erase: without lifting handset, press SPEED CALL key
  • Dial 1-or 2-digit access code, then * to erase
  • To use: lift handset, press SPEED CALL key and access code.
  • Stored number will be dialed automatically.

Display or Inspect

  • When speaking on the first line and a call is received on the second line, press DISPLAY or INSPECT key. You do not need to put the first line on hold.
  • Your display will show the extension number of the caller.

Auto Dial

  • To program: without lifting the handset, press AUTO DIAL key (flashing indicator)
  • Dial number to be programmed
  • Press AUTO DIAL key again (indicator goes off)
  • To use: lift handset
  • Press AUTO DIAL key (number is automatically dialed)

Intercom

  • Dial number to be programmed
  • Dial 2-digit intercom number
  • To use this function, determine which extensions will be associated with the intercom group. Then contact the Help Desk at x4076 to get the intercom group set up.

Handsfree/mute (Not available on 2006 & 2008 phones)

  • To put a speakerphone call on Mute/Hold:
    Press HANDSFREE/MUTE key (flashing indicator)
  • Caller will not hear you, but you will be able to hear the caller
  • To take off, press HANDSFREE/MUTE again

Last Number Redial

  • Lift handset
  • Press button labeled your extension number once; or
  • Without lifting the handset, press button labeled your extension number twice

Call Appearance, Ringing or Non-Ringing

  • You can have another person's extension number programmed to appear on your phone so you will know when that line is ringing or in use. You may have it just appear without a ring, or appear with a ring on your phone.
