How to Prepare for Upgrade

There are several things that you can do to prepare yourself for the Office 2007 / Exchange upgrade.

  1. Know that the Office 2007 / Exchange Upgrade portlet within MyRegent Portal (http://my.regent.edu) is the best place to get helpful information about this process.
  2. Read about the new Email Retention Policy.
  3. Find out the size of your current email folders.
  4. If your mailbox is over 500MB, you need to archive outdated email messages.
  5. Empty your Deleted Items Folder. (Click here to learn how)
  6. Prepare your email folders so they are compatible with the new system.
  7. Contact the Help Desk if you will be out of the office during your scheduled upgrade period.
  8. Contact the Help Desk if you use shared email accounts with others in your office or for specific functions.
  9. Contact the Help Desk if you use our current web-based calendar system at http://calendar.regent.edu and want the data migrated to the new system.
  10. An Administrative supervisor should send the Help Desk a list of all current GAs for the school or department.
  11. An Administrative supervisor should send the Help Desk a list of all current Adjunct Faculty for the school.
