· Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
· Linux; or
· MacOS 8.0 or later.
The laptop must also have a CD-ROM drive in order to install the wireless card software.

Security & Policies

The Regent University wireless network uses a shared network technology. Like all shared networks, you should presume that this network in insecure. Others using the wireless network could capture passwords and account numbers.

· Wireless cards are loaned to Regent students and faculty for 4 hours – In House Use Only.
· Cards may be renewed (one time) if others are not waiting.
· Overdue fines are $20.00/day up to $100.00.
· You will be billed for reasonable repair or replacement costs up to $200.00 if the wireless card is damaged, lost, or stolen.
· You are solely responsible for the wireless card while it is checked out to you and you will be accountable for any overdue fines, damage, loss, or theft.
· You will be asked to leave an ID card (not a student ID card) at the Circulation Desk when you check out a wireless card. Suitable ID cards: drivers license or military.
· Please do not ask the assistant or staff member at the Circulation Desk to help you with installing the card or to troubleshoot any problems that may occur.
· Network cards must be returned to the Library before we close for the evening.
· Please do not return the cards and accompanying software in the book drop, since books falling on top of them could cause damage. They should be returned directly to the assistant at the Circulation Desk.

Steps for Using the Wireless Card

Step 1: If you use your laptop to access the Internet using an Ethernet network or modem card, write down your current network settings before installing the wireless card software and configuring your system to use the wireless card.

The installation of the software and the configuration may modify your original network settings and may modify the “Plug and Play” settings as well. It may also result in your network or modem card not functioning properly after the uninstallation of the wireless card and you may need to reinstall your original network software and drivers.

Step 2: Insert the CD-ROM into your laptop and install the software. (Follow the instructions that come with the card and software).

Step 3: Insert the PC card into the laptop. If prompted, follow any on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Step 4: See the User’s Guide on the CD-ROM for more information.

Step 5: Return the card, software, and container to the Circulation Desk when you have finished.
