COURSE DESCRIPTION :
The IRR course will teach you how to develop a search strategy, to locate information using the library's online resources, and to evaluate and cite your sources.  This course will provide an orientation to Regent Library resources and services, but will also provide a foundation for doing research throughout your educational and professional career.

COURSE INFORMATION:

This is a required course of all entering REGENT UNIVERSITY students (with the exception of Law students).

The course is presented using the Blackboard course delivery software. The course is only available online.

The course is self-directed and self-paced.

The course is non-credit, pass/fail.


The fee for this course is $50.

The course should be taken during your first year as a student and completed within the same semester you have registered. NOTE: If the course is not completed, it will lead to a failing grade and students will be required to re-register and complete the course prior to graduation.

COURSE REGISTRATION:
Option #1: Web register for the course using Genisys. You will need the CRN number (listed under Course Schedule below) to register. Please allow a few days for your registration to be processed and for this class to appear in your course schedule in Genisys and Blackboard. A $50 fee will be automatically assessed upon registration.

Option #2: Register for the course through your program's academic advisor. Please allow a few days for your registration to be processed and for this class to appear in your course schedule in Genisys and Blackboard. A $50 fee will be automatically assessed upon registration.

Registration during or after the Drop/Add Period: During the Drop/Add Period, you will need to submit a drop/add form to your academic advisor to register for the IRR course, and pay the $50 fee to the Business Office. Once the Drop/Add period ends (after the second week of the term), this drop/add form will also require the approval of the dean of your school.

BEGINNING THE COURSE:

When you are registered and ready to start the course, you will need to log into Blackboard using your RegentID and password. The link to Blackboard is at http://regent.blackboard.com/.

At the main screen for Blackboard, you should see the My Courses list.

Follow the link titled "UNIV LIB Lib Info Research & Resources" to enter the IRR course.

After viewing the Welcome screen, please take a few minutes to review the course syllabus regarding grading policies and course content.
