Inclement Weather Info
Inclement Weather Plan: In case of inclement weather, the Commencement ceremony will be held at an off-campus location. If Commencement is moved to the rain location, every guest must have a ticket to attend. Each graduate can receive up to three (3) rain location tickets at regalia pick-up. All guests must have a rain ticket to attend the off-campus event, and no replacement tickets will be available. Guests who are unable to attend the ceremony in person can view it live online, rain or shine, at www.regent.edu/commencement.
Inclement Weather Notification: If the ceremony is relocated for severe weather, notification will be sent via Regent Alert and posted to the Regent University website. Guests should call the Regent Hotline at 757.352.4777 for a recorded message with full inclement weather details. Guests at The Founders Inn and Spa will be given written
notices at their doors. The ceremony is very unlikely to be moved for non-severe weather conditions. Do not go to the alternate location without notification (via Regent alert, website or hotline) that the ceremony has been relocated.
Inclement Weather Alternate Location: The alternate location for the commencement ceremony is the Rock Church on Kempsville Road. The Rock Church is located at:
640 Kempsville Road
Virginia Beach, VA 23464
For Guests: If the Commencement ceremony is moved to Rock Church due to inclement weather, the ceremony start will be delayed until 10:00 a.m. Rock Church will open for guests at 9:00 a.m. All guests must enter through the East doors. Security and volunteers will assist with directing guests. Security will be randomly checking bags upon entrance, so please plan accordingly and refrain from bringing overly large items.
Only guests with a ticket will be granted entrance. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on campus in the Divinity Chapel and Robertson Hall. Please refer to the campus map.
For Graduates: If the Commencement ceremony is moved to Rock Church due to inclement weather, the ceremony start will be delayed until 10:00 a.m. Due to the additional logistical challenges, graduates should still arrive by 8:45 a.m. All graduates must enter through the East doors and report to the second floor where you will be lined up according to school. (The exception is doctoral students who will line up together regardless of school.) Row assignments and faculty marshals will not be used at Rock Church.
Shuttles for graduates only will run from student housing (Regent Commons and Regent Village) to Rock Church.
