Regent Named Great College to Work For by Chronicle of Higher Education

An event at Regent University, Virginia Beach. On Monday, July 18th, Regent University was ranked among The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For®. This is the eighth year Regent has earned this distinction and was one of 93 universities in the nation to be recognized in 2016.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recognizes institutions for superior quality among 12 categories. Regent was distinguished for excellence in Facilities, Workspace and Security; Tenure Clarity and Process, and Respect and Appreciation.

The results are based on a two-part assessment including an “institutional audit,” which reviewed internal policies and practices as well as demographics within a particular institution.

According to an official release from The Chronicle of Higher Education, the results came largely from the results of a survey completed by hundreds of thousands of employees from institutions of higher education nation-wide.

Regent’s community excellence continues through its demonstrated growth of adult and traditional learners, anticipated to reach a record-breaking 10,000 enrolled students within the next year.

The university employs approximately 700 regular employees and provides part-time and temporary employment to more than 1,000 others including students, temporary staff and adjunct faculty members.

“I believe the best way to ensure that excellent service is being provided to our students is to provide a safe, well-equipped workplace, and excellent supervision and direction to our employees,” said Martha Smith, vice president for human resources and administration. “The 2016 survey results confirm we’re doing that at Regent and we appreciate the positive responses from our faculty and staff members in this voluntary survey.”
