Moving-In Tips for New Residents
When you first arrive at Student Housing, please stop by the office to pick up your apartment and mailbox keys, sign your lease, meet the Regent Village staff, and receive a welcome packet. The packet will contain information to help make your transition to Regent University and Virginia Beach more pleasant.
Connecting Utilities
Electricity and phone connections are the responsibility of the resident. Following is a list of local utility companies.
- Electricity: Provided by Dominion Virginia Power (Village Housing Only)
Call 1.888.667.3000 to hook up electrical service 48 hours prior to moving into housing. A deposit is required unless you can provide a letter of credit from your previous power company. A $15 service charge is applied to your first bill for connection. If you have had a Virginia Power account in the past, simply provide the address and account number.
- Telephone: Virginia Beach telephone service is provided by Verizon.
Service can be requested well in advance of your arrival by calling 757.954.6222 (say "representative" in the Voice Recognition Unit for quicker assistance), or check their website at www.verizon.com
.
Cavalier Telephone: They can be reached at 757.248.4000, or check their website at www.cavtel.com
for more information.
- Cable TV (Family Student Housing Only)
Limited cable service is provided by R&R Cable. New cable service is connected in a day or two after your arrival, after initial payment is made. Initial installation is $35.00, and monthly packages range from $8.85 to $35.00. Due to contractual obligations, satellite dishes or other cable connections are not permitted.
