General Requirements

Chapter Executive Officers must to be present at all full chapter events hosted by the Executive Committee (1-2 per year, at the discretion of the committee). Absences may be excused by the Chapter President and the Alumni Chapter Coordinator.

Additionally, Chapter Executive Officers are asked to meet quarterly to review the progress of the chapter, set goals,  and brainstorm. One or two of these quarterly meetings may be set in conjunction with the full chapter events.

Executive Positions

Chapter President

The Chapter President reports directly to the Executive Alumni Board and is selected by the EAB via online application and phone interview (see "Selection Process"). The Chapter President is asked to submit a written review of the chapter's activity and progress to the EAB every spring and fall, in conjunction with the semi-annual Alumni Board meeting. The President shall serve at the pleasure of the Executive Alumni Board.

The Chapter President, along with individual Executive Alumni Board members, is responsible for selecting and overseeing the eight (8) Affinity Chairs and for coordinating the planning and implementation of 1-2 full chapter events (involving all eight affinity groups) per year, with assistance from the Office of Alumni Relations. The President serves as the chapter contact for the Office of Alumni Relations.

The Chapter President will also work closely with the Alumni Chapter Coordinator (Regent University) and the Affinity Chairs to produce two (2) newsletters per year, using a provided template. The newsletter will include pertinent chapter information such as officer bios, event updates, university updates, etc.

Chapter Affinity Chairs

Chapter Affinity Chairs report to the Chapter President and to their school's Executive Alumni Board Representative. The will be selected to serve by the Chapter President and the EAB Representative via online application and phone interview. The Affinity Chairs are asked to submit a written review of their affinity group's activity to the Chapter President every spring and fall, prior to the semi-annual Alumni Board meeting. The Affinity Chairs shall serve at the pleasure of the Executive Alumni Board with support from the Chapter President.

The Affinity Chairs are responsible for coordinating information networking, social, or support opportunities for alumni from their school within the chapter region. Opportunities may include invitations to eat out, to theater or sporting events, for group attendance at field-specific seminars, etc. The Affinity Chair position serves primarily as a facilitator of opportunities relevant to the specific interests of his/her school's graduates.

For example:

  • The COM Affinity Chair may discover a local theater performance an extend an email invitation for all local COM alums to meet at the production. Perhaps he/she also coordinates going out to ice cream following the performance.
  • The RU Affinity Chair may arrange for the RU local alumni to meet at a sporting event for a time of socializing.
  • The DIV Affinity Chair may decide to host an informal gathering at his/her home to help local DIV alumni connect and network with each other.
  • The GLE Affinity Chair may hear about an entrepreneurship development seminar and pass the information along to the local GLE alumni with arrangements to meet before or after the session.

The Affinity Chairs will also provide support to the Chapter President in the production of a semi-annual chapter newsletter and 1-2 full chapter events (involving all eight affinity groups) per year (see above). Affinity Chairs will be appointed to serve in traditional roles (take minutes, collect/disperse money, etc.) on an as-needed basis at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
