Student Loan Exit Counseling

Federal regulations state that students who have borrowed federal student loans (Direct, PLUS, Perkins) are required to participate in a Student Loan Exit Counseling session upon falling below halftime enrollment, or graduation. Completion of the counseling session does not initiate repayment of your student loans, or indicate an intent to withdraw from your program. It is an information session designed to insure that federal student loan borrowers truly understand repayment options available to them. In an effort to assist you with fulfilling this regulation, the Student Financial Aid Office provides an online opportunity to complete this requirement. You may complete Online Loan Exit Counseling at studentaid.gov.

Graduating Students

If you are graduating from your degree program and utilized federal student loans you must complete Loan Exit Counseling before graduation. Loan Exit Counseling can be completed online at studentaid.gov.

Students Enrolled Less than Halftime

If you have utilized a federal student loan and are currently enrolled on a less than halftime basis, taking time off from school, or have withdrawn from your program then you must complete Loan Exit Counseling at studentaid.gov. Completion of this counseling session provides you with the information you will need to manage your loan while you are not in school. Please note that completion of this counseling session does not demonstrate intent to withdraw from your program.
