International Education Week: November 16- 22

 

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. The theme for 2014 IEW is "International Education for Everyone".

2014 Photo Contest

 

 

This Year Regent University is hosting the Virginia Tidewater  Consortium sponsored Photo Contest for   International  Education Week  (IEW). The theme for the  contest is   "International   Education is for

Everyone" Original  photos may be  submitted by enrolled students from

any of  the Virginia Tide Water consortium member  schools.  The   deadline for the submission is Friday, November 14th @ 5 p.m.

Culture in the Commons

2:00pm – 6:00pm

Location:  Regent Commons (Residence Halls).  Free and open to all.

 

Culture in the Commons is the hallmark event to celebrate the diverse cultures on campus.  Eat food from around the world, experience international cultures, and travel from continent to continent, all in the matter of one afternoon! 

 

Monday, November 17th

 

Etiquette in the Global Marketplace

12:00 PM  

Location: TBD.  Free and open to all.

 

Etiquette in the Global Marketplace is a workshop to train students on the differences in cultures and expectations concerning job interviews and job performance in a global marketplace.

 

Taste of the World

Location: Regent Ordinary Dinning Hall

 

Taste of the World will feature international food items from Norway, Romania, Malaysia, and China; display tables will feature the culture and lands of the various nations represented by our on-campus international students.

International Education Week Video with Regent International Students will play at various locations around campus. International students will describe their thoughts on education in their home country and in the United States.

Immaculee llibagiza:Inspirational Speaker & Author

6:00pm to 7:00pm

Location: Tidewater Community College

Immaculee llibagiza is a living example of faith into action. Her life was transformed dramatically during 1994 Rwanda genocide. llibagiza's first book, Left to Tell; Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan holoccaust was released in March of 2006. Today llibagiza is regarded as one of world's leading speakers on peace, faith and forgiveness. Click here for more information.

International Men’s Day: Beard Contest & Top Gun

6:00pm

Student Lounge in the Student Center

 

International Men’s Day will be celebrated with manly events.  The manly movie, Top Gun, will be shown in the Student Lounge, and accompanied with pizzas and sodas. Prior to the film, a beard competition will be held where men will be judged based on fullness. Judging will take place before the movie begins.  Start growing those beards!

 

International Film Symposium

7:30pm – 10:00pm

Location: Communications Bldg - Screening Room A.  Free and open to all.   

 

International Film Symposium will present the film Pather Panchali (India 1955) sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences Cinema-Television Program

International Game Night is a fun opportunity for students to learn and play board and card games from around the world. Pizza & drinks will be served at game night.

International Film Symposium

7:30pm – 10:00pm

Location: Communications Bldg - Screening Room A.  Free and open to all.
