I-Connect

"Building Bridges..., Making Friends"

(The I-Connect program is still in its development stages.  Program participation will depend on the number of applications received  and may not be offered every fall and spring term.)

Booker T. Washington in his Atlanta Exposition address encouraged the people of two ethnic communities to consider what blessings they would have if they pursued friendship and cooperation with each other.  He encouraged both groups to enjoy the benefits of what each had to offer because he knew that each person in each group had God-given gifts, backgrounds, cultural perspectives, and experiences, which would enrich the other.  By giving and receiving from each other they would help their communities grow stronger.

Regent University is committed to training Christian leaders who will change the world. This means that Regent desires to have ambassadors not just of the school but more especially of Christ, in every part of the world and in as many spheres of leadership as possible.  This global focus means that all students at Regent regardless of their ethnic identities should be able at the time they graduate to engage a culture other than their own and be able to fit in and represent Christ in that context.  The fact that Regent students come from a wide array of backgrounds means that students can begin the process of acquiring those skills through interaction with each other.

With the I-Connect program, the Office of International Student Services (OISS) wants to provide you with this opportunity to be enriched as well as to enrich through the building of a friendship with a new student who has just arrived in the United states.

If you are interested in serving in this program we have included links to a brochure and application form below.  The brochure will give you some information on what we hope to achieve through the program and the application form will provide us with some information about you which will be used to match you with a new international student.  Instructions for returning the form are included in the form and on the brochure.

Note: Newly Admitted international students will receive applicable I-Connect information through the OISS by email.
